Fifth Water Hot Springs, Utah
Where we parked
Last September, we were chasing the last bits of Summer and took a trip out to Park City, Utah. Now, I’m not much of a hiker, but I was determined to breathe in as much of the mountain air as I could before coming back to flat ol’ Florida. In preparation for this trip, I scoured the internet for a healthy mix of trails that were both easy and rewarding. My top criteria being:
Easy to navigate
Moderate terrain and elevation
Cool things to see
This led me to the Fifth Water Hot Springs trail!
We only hiked about 8 miles round trip (half the full trail). Being as inexperienced as we were, we definitely did NOT want to risk trying to go the whole way. Supposedly, there were much better pools farther, but I was quite content with our trip. I mean look at this view!
To Get Here ^
The trail wasn’t exactly well marked, but the path was well worn and so, easy to follow. It also helped that there were handwritten signs/graffiti saying things like: “NUDE IS NATURAL” so, we knew we were headed the right way for an interesting time.
Trail Note
I should note that there were some parts of the trail that were quite narrow and a bit scary for a faint-hearted newbie like me. However, there were some wooden handhold railing things that helped along the way.
What You’ll Need
We really didn’t need much, but we made a bit of a day of it so we brought:
Towels
Water (obvs)
Protein Bars, Snacks
Sandwiches
Flip Flops
Bathing Suits
Extra Socks
Downloaded Playlists, Podcasts, and map
And thats it! You don’t have to be an extreme hiker for this one, but it’s a bit of a challenge if you’re not used to the elevation and activity.
